Environment Artist

We are looking to expand the Hazelight team with a full time Environment Artist.

Hazelight is an independently owned game development studio, in March this year we released our first title A Way Out on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. We have now embarked on our next creative adventure. Hazelight is led by Josef Fares, writer and director of A Way Out and Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons.

As our new Environment Artist you will work on-site with Hazelight’s great development team in our offices in Stockholm, Sweden. Earlier this year we moved into our own corner of the magnificent Münchenbryggeriet by the waterfront in Södermalm, Stockholm.

Responsibilities

As an Environment Artist you will join the art team with the task of taking the levels of our game from early blockout into final polish.
In the early blockout pass you will make blockout assets and use these to build environments, laying the best possible foundation for composition, colour, gameplay, lighting and story.
In consecutive passes you will finalize assets while constantly working to improve the aesthetics but also performance and other technical and gameplay aspects of the levels that you work on.

Working closely with the art team and other departments, we expect you to be active in both seeking and providing feedback, always with the goal of making the best game possible.

 

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of professional game development experience as an Environment Artist.
  • Ability to make highly optimized game ready assets.
  • A great intuition for colour, composition, light and atmosphere in game environments.
  • Experience working with Modo is a strong plus (as we work exclusively with Modo in the Environment Team).
  • Knowledge of Substance Painter and Designer.
  • Previous experience working in Unreal Engine 4 is a plus.

Gameplay Programmer

As a Gameplay programmer you will be developing various gameplay systems from their initial concept design into fully implemented and polished parts of the game. You will collaborate with the Design team on features and the feel of the gameplay, implementing requests and taking initiative in coming up with improvements to both gameplay and technical aspects.

 

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of professional game development experience working on gameplay.
  • Experience programming in C++ and a strong understanding of programming fundamentals.
  • Greatly motivated to provide the best final gameplay experience to the player.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Perforce and Git.
  • Previous experience working in Unreal Engine 4 is a plus.
  • Knowledge of game networking is a plus.

Level Designer

Responsibilities
As a Level Designer at Hazelight you will be both implementing gameplay mechanics, scenarios, puzzles and levels as well as taking personal ownership over the tasks you are given.
You will need to have a close relationship with all other departments of the company to make the gameplay experience the best it possibly can be.

Qualifications

–  Strong communication skills and experience working within a team

– Excellent knowledge of Unreal Engine 4, Blueprints specifically

– Documented experience working with level design and game design

– Previous experience with scripting languages (C#, LUA, AngelScript) is a plus, but not mandatory

– Strong understanding of art, composition and lighting is a plus, but not mandatory

Senior Sound Designer

We are looking to expand the Hazelight team with a full time Senior Sound Designer.

As our new Senior Sound Designer you will work on-site with Hazelight’s great development team in our offices in Stockholm, Sweden. Earlier this year we moved into our own corner of the magnificent Münchenbryggeriet by the waterfront in Södermalm, Stockholm.

 

Responsibilities
As a Sound Designer at Hazelight you will be responsible for both design, structure, implementation and organizing of sound effects. Have a creative vision for the sound in our upcoming game. Be able to analyze the gameplay and deliver a sound that elevates the game to a new level. Our audio team strive to be as independent as possible, a good understanding of how to properly implement your sounds is a must.

 

Qualifications

– Strong communication skills and experience working within a team.

– Excellent knowledge of multiple DAW’s such as Reaper, Protools, Nueondo.

– Documented experience working with sound design on at least one AAA game.

– Excellent experience in middleware such as Wwise and or Fmod.

– Strong understanding of sound recording techniques.

– Great understanding of visual scripting such as Blueprints or equivalent.

– Fluent in English is meritorious.

– 3-5 year experience as a Sound Designer, working in the game industry
